Drowned

I have always been fascinated with those times in human history when we flooded entire villages in the name of progress.

Recently, in the news, we heard about all the stuff they have found under Lake Mead (the U.S. largest man-made reservoir) including bodies!

There is something eerily beautiful about the idea of human-made things somehow preserved underwater. Is like we suddenly forgot that those things were there until someone goes looking for them and finds them under several feet of water. Somehow preserved…

Speaking about Lake Mead, there is also the story of the Lost City, a Pueblo Indian city that was drowned by the lake.

Such stories have happened all over the world. Spain, China, Germany, etc.

We are currently, constantly finding out about them due to the consequences of climate change.

It’s like Mother Nature telling us: “You tried to change this, and now I want it back, but here are these things you have forgotten”.

I went out last night on one of Ollie’s walks and it was foggy.

I decided to take a camera with me this time, instead of just taking pictures with the iPhone. In this case, my old Sony a6300 with the 19mm (28mm Equiv.) lens.

I have taken many pictures of this tree, but this time I decided to go under it and take some pictures looking up. The foggy atmosphere, with the parking lot lights, made it look like it was one of those drowned trees, lost to time.

My mental image is now preserved in this photo, just like a drowned tree...

Thanks for reading.
