We had to make up for missing my son’s birthday…
It was a terrible week at work and I had to work all weekend missing his birthday. I’d promised that we were going to go out to a restaurant and that didn’t happen.
So, for me to atone for my incredible lack of family time, I decided to find a good steakhouse/BBQ place.
My wife’s friend had suggested a restaurant but we could not remember the name or the town where it was located. There is always google…
All I knew was that it had some extravagant dish that will feed a regiment so with that little detail, I went looking online.
Enter “The Cue“. You know, as in Barbe-CUE!!
A little out of the way for us as it’s all the way in Danbury CT, but I saw it as an opportunity to make up for lost time with my son and my wife, so we decided on the day trip.
The Cue is definitely a BBQ place. Or I should say a BBQ and a Bar Place.
When you get there you are greeted by the outside smoke grills that were not in service due to the cold weather, but you get wafted by the clear smell of BBQing as soon as you park your car.
The three of us went it and the place was packed. We almost didn’t get a table. It was Sunday and everybody was having brunch.
They found us a table near the entrance and close to the bar and we were assisted promptly. They asked us if we wanted the brunch or if we were going to order from the regular menu.
My wife and son went to check out the brunch and came back to tell me that they rather order from the regular menu.
I had already checked the menu and showed my wife the choice they have that they call “Table for Four”.
Is a platter of meat with Chicken, Ribs, Pulled Pork, sausages and Brisket plus three sides.
I knew my son’s meat appetite so we decided to go for it…
For the side, we selected: Creamed Corn, Truffled Mac & Cheese and Manchego/Bacon Fries.
Food took a little bit of time and you could really see that the kitchen was busy with the orders from thecrowd of people that was there and I can only guess that the Table for Four is not easy to gather.
We were busy chatting about his birthday and what he wanted as a gift, so the time passed rather quickly and we almost didn’t notice how long it took to bring the food over.
The place was loud and right next to us, there was a long table celebrating someone’s birthday. By the time they brought our food, everybody that was leaving was commenting how good our “Table for Four” looked.
But tried as we made, we could not finish the “Table for Four’. There was enough meat there to feed 10 people. We wound up taking a large doggie bag home that feed us for a week.
I was so full, that I didn’t eat until the next day!
When my wife talked to her friend and tried to thank her for suggesting “The Cue”, it turned out that it was not the restaurant she suggested.
Oh, Well, next time!
