I didn’t have any plans for the weekend.
There were a few things I wanted to do around our backyard, but I was not expecting to be working there the whole weekend.
We have some bare spots in our lawn and I knew I wanted to do something about it. So on Saturday, I took my trusty shovel and started transplanting grass from the sidelines to the bare spots.
My wife and I worked for a couple of hours and then we went to the hardware store to get some supplies to finish the job.
We got some plants, some pavers and some edging supplies to work on the front of the house and the back. She is an awesome bargain hunter so we got some great deals on everything we bought.
On the way back we stopped for a quick bite at the “American Empanada” food truck in Milford, CT.
The empanadas are kind of small but full of meat and cheese. We also ordered the large fries and they give you a ton of those. The Holy Aioli Sauce was very good with the Empanadas and the Fries. Next time, I will order extra.
We came back home and decide to rest until Sunday.
On Sunday, I woke up bright and early and with the help of my son Carlos, started installing the pavers on the backyard.
My wife made us breakfast and coffee and we continue on to the front of the house. My other two son came out and helped us with the edging and the mulch. Everything came out great!!
They did most of the work and I couldn’t be more proud.
At the end of the day, we made some Dominican Chimicurris. My son’s girlfriend came to join us and we had some beers and sat down on the deck to contemplate the fruits of our labor.
Today, I was telling my wife how tired and sore I am (probably because I am so out of shape) but I would not change it for the world. The fact that I was able to share the time with my entire family working on our humble abode, made it all worthwhile.
