It was at the invitation of my sister-in-law and her husband that we went to visit Trattoria 'A Vucchela. A really nice Italian restaurant in downtown Bridgeport, CT where you can get a real taste of that Mediterranean country.
The place is pretty fantastic and we have been there a couple of times already but never for dinner.
The decor is simple and some might say a little understated but at the same time cozy and welcoming.
You are greeted by a bar when you enter and the dining tables are in the back. Somewhat similar to many Trattorias in Italy.
The food is pure Italian fares and the owners pay special attention to the freshness of the ingredients.
We were tended by a wonderful waitress that gave us a rundown of the specials and I have to admit, all of them sounded really good. She was very warm and friendly.
We ended up ordering a delectable Rizzotto stuffed pepper and the Antipasto della Casa as appetizers.
I ordered one of the specials, the absolutely fabulous Spaghetti Carbonara (although it had a different name that I cannot recall). There are no pictures of that dish because it was so good that I ate it all before I could think about taking any pictures!!
We shared some beers, some wine, and stories for about two hours and then it was time to leave.
The truth was that we would have stayed longer if it wasn't a weekday...
Definitely, a place we are going to return, again and again. If you are ever in downtown Bridgeport, give a visit to the Trattoria 'A Vucchela and say hello to Pasquale!
