Pictures of Flowers

As they say: “Spring is in the Air”…

Cliche I know, but what a great season!

My wife and I are hard at work in our yard and one of the main characters on our little peace of land, are the flowers. Man, I love flowers.

They are the perfect subject.

I was trying the technique of shooting flowers that I learned from Nicole S. Young. In this technique you use an iPad as the background for a flower.

Chives, who knew that they have flowers!

Or a simple foam board ($2 at your local paper store)…

Cala Lillies

A simple edit on Lightroom to increase the shadow and fix some blemishes, et Voila! A pair of great photos.

Did I mentioned that these were taken with the iPhone?

My mother-in-law insist that we should go to the store an buy some more Crocus to plant in front of her condo…

“Is the spring coming?" he said. "What is it like?"...
"It is the sun shining on the rain and the rain falling on the sunshine...”

I was been a dick and told her is not worth it. These flowers probably last a week at the most.

The always bloom at the start of the Spring season and basically signal that Winter is done.

It always amazing to me how nature knows these things…

“It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.”

As i grow old, the winters seem to be getting to me more and more. The cold gets inside my bones and my feet are always cold.

This is going to be the year that we work fully on our new yard and garden. I know my wife is planning lots of things and I can wait to get it looking better than it did last year.

Spring is welcomed once more!

Topaz Studio

I couldn’t resist putting these through Topaz Studio (Impression Filters). In this case the queen of the flowers and a favorite of mine: Georgia O’Keeffe.

By any other name…

I was testing the moment lenses and what better way to test, than a macro shot of a rose.

As always, there is a very shallow depth of field that comes with macro shots and you have to choose what you want in focus.

I love the intricate folds of the rose, but they are usually a difficult subject to photograph.

Orchids on the other hand are way easier!

These are some beautiful roses but my wife bought to bring to her school.

I have always been in love with flowers and is one of my favorite subjects. Like landscapes they never complain and they're always there waiting for us to take pictures.

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose and by any other name would smell as sweet"

Moment lenses are the best lenses I have found for the iPhone. They are way better than the Olloclip lenses. They have very little distortion and they have even been profile inside Lightroom.

By the way not to brag, but this article was entirely written using the dictation capabilities of the iPad and the AirPods. It has some issues with my accent, but otherwise it was very easy to dictate all these words into the WordPress app on the iPad.
