Summer Skies

My wife and I decided to go for ice cream on a lazy and quiet evening.

Our local Dairy Queen® is a few miles away and I was up for a drive (although, she was driving).

We took Ollie (our cavapoo) with us, as he loves ice cream.

We usually get him what here, they call a “Pup Cup”. A small cup with whipped cream, that he licks clean every time!

My wife was driving really slow because she couldn’t find her bearings and though the ice cream shop was closer. I was totally enjoying the drive and Ollie had his head out the window like any normal dog.

When we got to the Dairy Queen®, the place was packed. Nothing brings out people like ice cream on a hot summer afternoon.

I waited in line to order me a Butter Pecan Blizzard and a Chocolate Dipped cone for my wife. There were so many people, waiting in line behind me, that I completely forgot Ollie’s Pup Cup.

When I got to the car, my wife asked about it and I I fell so stupid. Ollie was looking at me with sad eyes; almost saying; “Where is my ice cream, pop?”.

I quickly went to the trunk of the car and MacGivered a plate out of lip jar, and gave him some of my ice cream.

He was a very happy puppy!

More and more cars where arriving as the sun was setting. I went to throw out my garbage and I saw this sky, almost begging for a picture. Alas, I did not have my camera with me, so I had to use my iPhone.

This area of West Haven is comprised of a big campus for the University of New Haven and lots of industrial buildings and commerce plazas.

The back of the Dairy Queen® faces a truck rental parking lot and to me, it reminded me of those Americana photos from yesteryears.

Because of that, I used the wonderful app Hipstamic to take the picture, what you see here is straight out of camera, A little bit of blowout highlights, but all and all, a nice snapshot and a great reminder of a nice evening with my wife and dog.
