Moriyama

Daido Moriyama is a Japanese photographer that takes hard, raw street photos with a somewhat punk flair.

A favorite photographer of mine.

I love black and white and his style of photography resonates with me.

You can obtain similar results using the following technique:

  1. Set your camera to shoot RAW

  2. Change the mode to Black and White, High Contrast, and increased sharpness (this is just so you can see the results as the RAW files don’t consider this).

  3. Set your iso between 1600 and 3200.

  4. Set your camera to Aperture Priority.

  5. Set exposure compensation between -0.3 and -0.7 (to preserve highlights).

  6. Set your shutter speed between 1/125 and 1/400, so you can take faster photos.

  7. Go out and take photos. Take photos of everything, don’t look through the viewfinder, just point and shoot. Take photos while you walk, the faster the better.

After this, you will need to use these Lightroom Presets to process your photos.

Here is a video of Daido Moriyama and his style of photography.

If you use the technique and the presets, come back and share your photos so I can see your work.
