Phew! It has been a while since I wrote on this blog. I can say that I had the drive to do it but it has been difficult, to say the least! With all the news about new software, new versions of old software and work in general, I had a tough time figuring out what to write about.
I haven't taken too many pictures either...
I think it all started with Adobe's announcement of the changing of the name for what used to be Lightroom CC to what is now called Lightroom Classic CC.
One of the most polarized changes I have seen in a very long time.
Is Adobe going to get rid of the standalone version of Lightroom by moving everything to the cloud? It seems to show that is the direction they are taking...
I will reserve my comments for later when I have more time to analyze and comprehend the implications.
Then there was the announcement from On1 of their new version of On1 Photo RAW, that puts it in direct competition with Lightroom. An extremely capable application that is sure to make Adobe afraid of losing some customers.
Then it's was the brand new version of MacPhun's (now Skylum) Luminar that is promising a DAM (Digital Asset Manager) for 2018. This application is definitely better than Lightroom in terms of editing. It is also quite fast and customizable. I think is my new favorite editor.
I believe Skylum's intention is to make a shattering statement like the one they did with Aurora HDR. Not many players out there are better than Aurora HDR... they definitely dethroned Photomatix!
And we are not mentioning the new versions of Topaz Studio or Alien Skin's line up.
It has been a whirlwind that is changing the industry to its core!
New technologies are coming down the pipe that is making easier the job of editing our photos.
Like I have said many times on this blog, I cannot wait to see what the future will bring!
What about you? What have you been up to?
